Supporting the efforts of "Five Helping Hearts "
There is a quote that says "Live in such a way that if your children are ever asked for the definitions of kindness, integrity and loyalty, they'll answer, "my parents." This is a woman that is not only leading by example, but she has created children in our community that are out there making sure their "Helping Hearts" are working hard to make this world a better place each and every day. A mother of 3, her two youngest started a non-profit and he oldest is a firefighter. She is also one serious crafter, and uses that to make kids smile!
Business/organizations
Five Helping Hearts - They’re five young friends; five imaginative children. Five KIDS making a difference. Together they have formed a very unique organization called Five Helping Hearts. They may seem small at only 8 and 9 years old but their generosity and entrepreneurial spirit are as big as it gets.
After Amy's daughter learned she survived a blood infection as a baby, she expressed to her mother that she wanted to give shoes to kids in Child Protective Services custody. For her birthday, she then asked for new shoes and money, and all donations were given to the Texas City CPS office. The following year, she did it again, and collected backpacks and filled them with supplies for children at her school. Her helping heart did not stop there. She held a charity fashion show for her birthday where she donated more than $2,000 to the Ronald McDonald House of Galveston. Now it has grown to so much more, with a total of Five Helping Hearts working together with all of their other friends to make changes and bring happiness to other kids and families.
Amy was quoted in the Houston Chronicle as saying "My plans is to hopefully grow the organization and pass it down from generation to generation. My goal is to be able to help as many kids in the Houston and surrounding communities, as many as we can and as often as we can. I would love to have more events for kids to help them and take the financial stress off of the parents shoulders. Parents should utilize the time with their child and spend precious moments with them making memories. If we can take a small amount of that financial burden off their shoulders, then we did our job."
